The Power of YOU supports as many students as possible based on student need and funds available for the program.

For full consideration for acceptance into 2010 POY, complete and submit ALL application materials by May 3, 2010.

The steps below must be completed and submitted to MCTC by May 3, 2010 for students to be considered for the Power of YOU program for Fall 2010

Application Steps

  1. Print, complete and sign all 4 pages of the application, then mail the Power of YOU program and College aplication forms to the address listed on the application.
  2. Submit the 2010-11 Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) and complete the financial aid process. You can apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov (The 2010-11 application will be available beginning in January 2010).

    Submitting the FAFSA is just the first step in completing the financial aid process. The process may take several weeks to verify, so begin it early to make sure it is completed before the Power of YOU application deadline.
  3. Complete the MCTC placement tests. Testing hours, sample questions, and information are available online or contact the Testing Center at 612-659-6262. The placement tests are free and no appointment is necessary.

You will receive a separate written notification of your acceptance to Minneapolis Community and Technical College from the Admissions Office.  Acceptance to MCTC  does not mean that you have been accepted into the Power of YOU program. You will receive a separate letter indicating acceptance into the Power of YOU after the May 1 deadline.
